For more than three decades, John Haseley has worked alongside some of Ohio’s most influential leaders, both in Washington, D.C. and in Columbus. John has worked to help start-up businesses get off the ground, counsels established corporations, and is deeply involved in advocacy on behalf of organized labor.
Through his many years of statewide work, he has developed long standing relationships at the Statehouse, courthouses, cities, villages and townships, as well as with labor leaders throughout Ohio.
Prior to co-founding Remington Road Group in 2011, John served as Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s Chief of Staff. There, he cemented his reputation as an effective leader in politics and policy when he led the Administration’s negotiations with the state legislature on key legislation, including a state budget that passed with near-unanimous bipartisan support.
John began his political career in 1987 when he went to work in Governor Richard F. Celeste’s Washington office. In 1992, he served as a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator John Glenn and worked on Glenn’s re-election campaign, then clerked for federal Judge Guy Cole on the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1997, he joined then-Congressman Strickland’s staff, serving as his Chief of Staff in Washington from 1998 to 2005.
He is a native of Toledo, Ohio and grew up in Athens. He received his undergraduate degree in political science from Ohio University and his law degree from George Washington University. John lives in Athens, Ohio with his wife Amanda.
Aaron Pickrell is the Managing Partner of Remington Road Group, a full-service public affairs firm based in Columbus, Ohio with reach throughout the state, across the country, and in Washington, DC.
Aaron works with Fortune 500 companies, startups, labor unions, trade associations and nonprofits to advance their policy priorities, business objectives, and reputational goals. He applies and leverages more than two decades of national, state, and local political experience and the relationships he’s built at all levels of government to deliver for clients in industries ranging from financial services and technology, to energy and health care.
Before co-founding Remington Road Group in 2011, Aaron helped elect members of Congress, Governors and U.S. Presidents; and he was included in Politico’s “50 Politicos to Watch” list, and was named by Campaigns as Elections as one of leading political influencers in Ohio. He managed Ted Strickland’s gubernatorial campaigns and served as the Chief Operating Officer in Governor Strickland’s administration. He also held leadership and senior advisory roles on several other high-profile campaigns, including for Presidents Obama and Biden. During President Obama’s first term, he served as President of Unity 09, a national coalition established to help pass the Obama-Biden administration’s first year agenda. Earlier in his career, he served as Congressman Leonard Boswell’s Chief of Staff.
He is a graduate of Iowa State University and lives in Bexley, Ohio with his wife, Joanne and daughters Lilly and Amelia.
Joanne Pickrell is one of Ohio’s go-to experts in developing and implementing successful advocacy and grasstops mobilization strategies. For a range of corporate and public affairs clients across various sectors and issues – including health care, education, tech, energy and the environment – she builds, sustains, and manages diverse coalitions who take strategic actions to influence public opinion and policy initiatives. Her “whose voice is missing from this conversation” approach ensures diversity and inclusiveness in her public affairs work.
She has also served as a senior advisor to statewide issue advocacy organizations in Ohio, including For Our Future Ohio, Protect Our Care Ohio, and NextGen Climate Ohio. Prior to joining Remington Road Group, she founded Broad & High Partners, a Columbus-based public affairs firm.
Joanne holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from The George Washington University. She currently resides in Bexley, Ohio with her husband Aaron and their two daughters and serves on the Bexley Board of Education.
Jen Lynch brings over 25 years of experience in legislative and regulatory affairs, with a focus on energy, agriculture, and food policy. Lynch has been a partner with Remington Road Group for over ten years, helping clients achieve their strategic goals, and building successful policy and public affairs strategies at the local, state and federal levels.
Previously, Lynch served as director of government relations at Roetzel and Andress, a National Law Journal “NLJ 250” law firm. Prior to joining Roetzel and Andress, Lynch served as the policy advisor to former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. In this role, she advised the governor on all matters related to energy, utility, environment, agriculture, and insurance policy, while managing the implementation of his legislative and policy agenda. Lynch led Governor Strickland’s effort to develop, pass and enact one of the country’s strongest renewable portfolio standards, in addition to numerous other policy achievements that strengthened Ohio’s ability to manufacturer and deploy clean energy resources.
Lynch also served as legislative director to U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan, serving as his lead policy advisor on domestic issues, including energy, natural resources, agriculture, health care and education policy. In addition, she also served as the state policy director to President Obama during his 2008 successful campaign in Ohio.
Lynch formerly served on the Ohio Expositions Commission, which manages the Ohio Expo Center and its grounds for the Ohio State Fair, the All-American Quarter Horse Congress and 150 other events each year. She co-founded and served on the board of New Resource Solutions and Conductor Solar, a platform developed to efficiently connect clean energy projects with clean energy investors. Appointed by the President of the Senate, Jen previously served on the Ohio Home Inspection Board, and was appointed to the Columbus Civil Service Commission by Mayor Andrew Ginther. She currently serves on the board of Brite Energy Innovators, a clean energy incubator offering a variety of services for startups, from coaching to open lab space to specialized accelerator services. Since its founding more than a decade ago, it’s served about 600 such startups so far.
Jen graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and resides in Columbus with her husband John and their children.
Louis Capobianco has been coordinating successful government affairs, public affairs and business development strategies in Ohio for years. He has extensive experience working with all levels of government, including Ohio’s cities and counties – coordinating the needs of local communities with client objectives. He works with nonprofits and Fortune 100, 500, and 1,000 companies to help them achieve their goals across the state.
Louis leverages his experience and relationships for clients across sectors, including helping to advance high-profile real estate development projects, managing multi-state corporate issue advocacy projects, and strengthening the reputations of clients among key government stakeholders.
Prior to joining Remington Road Group, Louis served as the Director of Legislative Affairs to former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. In this role, Louis advised the governor on all matters pending before the General Assembly, oversaw the negotiations with legislative leaders on legislation such as the state’s operating budget. Capobianco’s work helped lead to Ohio being the only state in the nation to pass a two-year tuition freeze for Ohio’s college students and expand access to health care to all children in Ohio.
Louis has also played senior roles for numerous candidates, organizations and issue campaigns. He has advised campaigns for City Council, Mayor, County Commission, State Senate, State House, Supreme Court, Governor and U.S. Senate.
Louis lives in Dublin, Ohio with his wife Missy and their children, Maggie, Joseph and Lily.
Forged over nearly 25 years in Ohio government and politics, Alan Bannister has deep roots and connections in cities and counties across Ohio – including strong relationships with mayors, council members, school board members, state legislators, Ohio’s congressional delegation, the Congressional Black Caucus, and business leaders.
Prior to joining Remington Road Group, Alan served as a Director, Manager, and Executive Assistant for five Toledo mayors, where he worked on civic engagement, small business, and smart cities initiatives, and was responsible for the city’s office of diversity and inclusion, the Board of Community Relations, and the Toledo Youth Commission.
Alan has been part of the political teams for every presidential race since 2008, and a regional political coordinator based in Toledo for every Ohio gubernatorial campaign since 2006. In Ohio Governor Ted Strickland’s administration, Alan was Northwest Ohio Regional Director and managed projects for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
Daniel van Hoogstraten has built his career at the intersection of politics, government, corporate campaigns, and communications. He also has in-depth experience managing paid media strategies and their integration with communications and traditional earned media.
Daniel takes a campaign-inspired approach to serve the strategic communications needs of clients across various sectors. His corporate and business interest communications experience includes work for energy companies, small business groups, health care providers, developers, manufacturers, and trade associations. On the nonprofit side, he has worked on issue advocacy for health care, the tech sector, organized labor, and early childhood learning.
Prior to joining Remington Road Group, Daniel was the State Director for a large-scale political and issue advocacy organization in Ohio, and served as Communications Director to senior members of the U.S. House of Representatives – including Congressman Frank Pallone, the top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Daniel has also been a spokesman and advisor for U.S. Senate and U.S. House campaigns across the country. Previously, he worked at a government affairs firm in D.C. focused on agriculture and energy policy.
Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in journalism from Wake Forest University. He lives in Bexley, Ohio with his wife Molly and their two children.
Aubrey Ward focuses on creating connections between companies and local communities, and monitoring and tracking legislation and local government developments. Her work includes organizing events, attending local meetings, tracking influential local groups, developing social media content, and helping to maintain a good reputation within the community on behalf of the client.
Previously, Aubrey worked on Ohio campaigns and in the Ohio Statehouse under former House Assistant Majority Leader Kristin Boggs.
Aubrey comes from an agricultural background, having worked at her family’s agribusiness in Waldo, Ohio throughout high school. Aubrey is a graduate of The Ohio State University, and resides in Columbus, Ohio.
